Old Swan, new tricks
The Old Swan & Minster Mill launches new dog-training weekend breaks, as Richard Cree reports
The Old Swan & Minster Mill is the sort of place you go to relax, to retreat from the world and unwind. Set in the bucolic Cotswolds village of Minster Lovell, this latest De Savary hotel boasts a gastropub-style restaurant and a simple spa. Well-heeled guests go to enjoy the local walks, a spot of fishing or tennis.
Now, to this activity list you can add dog-training.
In an effort to exploit its already considerable dog-friendly credentials, the Old Swan & Minster Mill has launched a new, monthly weekend dog-training package, in association with dog-training and behaviour experts, Cotswold Pet Services. Its new “Country Escape with Paws” package combines all the benefits of a break at the hotel with what the hotel describes as “Canine Country Etiquette” classes. Essentially, that means a 90-minute session on Saturday afternoon putting your pooch through its paces, while you build up an appetite for a three-course dinner in the evening.
Assuming your four-legged friend doesn’t disgrace itself during the afternoon, there’s a special dinner waiting for the dog as well. The Country Escape with Paws package costs £295 per night and includes:
A Minster Mill Special Room overlooking the River Windrush
Three-course dinner for two in the Old Swan, plus a dinner for the dog on both evenings
Daily full traditional English breakfast
Complimentary newspapers
Dog treats during the stay
One £25 spa voucher per room
90 minutes of dog training & Canine Country Etiquette, delivered by dog training and behaviour specialists Cotswold Pet Services on Saturday afternoon
Late check-out at 2pm
