Hotel du Vin Harrogate
The Harrogate HdV is located in a converted row of Georgian townhouses (used as a hotel since the 1930s) and includes bars, a lively billiards room and a great spa.
Eat: As with all HdVs, dogs are allowed in all the public areas, with the exception of the restaurant (Bistro du Vin). Food in the bistro is again exactly what you expect from a modern interpretation of French bistro food, and there’s an open-style theatre kitchen serving food made to a consistently high standard with a wine list to match the hotel’s name. Better sommeliers than you’d expect at this standard of hotel are also a nice feature. The menu from the Bistro can be served in the bar, including at breakfast (although dogs are also allowed in the rooms on their own). Room service is also available.
Sleep: All Hotel du Vin bedrooms are dog friendly. The rooms here are classic HdV, with the minimum standard being a bloody comfortable bed and a cracking shower. The impressive loft suites are large, airy and offer great views across this pretty northern spa town.
Walk: Dog owners might be forgiven for thinking that being just across the road from a massive, 200-acre common like The Stray alleviates the need to look elsewhere for a walk, but that would be a shame. For a start it would mean missing out on a walk through the town's other amazing parks not to mention the incredible surrounding Yorkshire countryside and Yorkshire Dales, themselves.
