Overwater Hall
This is about as dog friendly as a country house hotel gets. Accepting that the elements of the decor may not be to everyone’s taste (it appears to be a non-ironic take on chintz-based maximalism) Overwater Hall nevertheless offers a genuinely warm welcome to you and your dog.
Eat: Overwater Hall offers one of Cumbria's finest full English breakfasts, which is enough to set you up nicely for a day out walking in the amazing surrounding countryside. Dogs are allowed in the bar and lounge downstairs, but not the more formal dining room (where a smart casual dress code applies). Dinner is as traditional as breakfast, with a menu offering the best local ingredients. There's also a dog-sitting service available if you want to go out somewhere that the pooch isn’t welcome.
Sleep: With two resident Labradors, dogs are well understood at Overwater Hall and owners and dogs are both made to feel at home. Dogs are allowed in all 11 bedrooms, where touches like freshly cut fresh flowers and fresh milk for tea and coffee help create that extra homely feel. There’s also no extra charge for bringing your dog.
Walk: With 18-acres of grounds, even without venturing beyond the hotel there’s not a lot of reason to spend time indoors. But with the awesome Skiddaw Forest and the Uldale Fells both just a big stick’s throw away, and the Cumbria Way passing nearby, the walking options are endless.
