The Hoste
The owners of the Hoste have got dog-friendly accommodation in Burnham Market sewn up. Rather than a single hotel, the Hoste is a mini-collection of small hotels and self-catering properties sprinkled throughout this delightful North Norfolk village.
Eat: There are very few places dogs aren’t allowed at the Hoste (basically they can’t go to the spa or the main restaurant) and there are plenty of places to eat (both indoor and outdoor options), from the pub at the front to the courtyard garden at the rear. All serve the same tasty, no-nonsense menu, which the head chef, James O’Connor claims to be “imaginative modern British food”.
Sleep: As well as having the run of almost the whole hotel (although not literally, keep them under control and on the lead, as always) dogs are allowed in the majority of the 58 bedrooms and it’s worth plumping for those at the front of the hotel, in the old building, as they have more character. Dogs are not allowed in The Vine House, the townhouse-style property across the road from the main hotel.
Walk: With the amazing beaches of Norfolk’s coast just a short hop away, this is prime coastal walking country and it's great to find a village (and a hotel) that is so dog friendly. If you ask at reception they have details of all the best local walks, but you can do worse than the beach down the road at Holkham.
