The Potting Shed Pub
Named Wiltshire Dining Pub of the Year 2014, it’s hard to think of a better combination than the Potting Shed pub and the Rectory Hotel across the road. There are few restrictions on dogs at the Potting Shed (other than expecting them to be well behaved and under control) and you can eat anywhere in the pub. With a wonderful collection of well looked after cask ales and a decent wine list to boot, there’s no excuse for not finding the perfect accompaniment to the hearty, traditional Cotswold grub on offer.
With two acres of grounds effectively used as an enormous kitchen garden, you at least know that the ingredients are fresh, local and seasonal. And if you’re smart enough to book a room at the Rectory, you’ll only have to stagger across the road at the end of the meal. The perfect place for a Cotswolds break at any time of year, but exceptionally cosy in winter, when the fires are burning and the food is warm and comforting.
